Sting, who is well known as D’Ultimate DJ Sting, kicked off his career as a DJ in his home island, The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.  He is especially known for being versatile in ALL genres of music.  His popularity was gained through playing at various night clubs throughout the country however Sting’s recognition grew even more when he was hired by Trinidad’s 98.9 YesFM as one of their DJ’s in 1997.  There, he held down the Monday evening segment together with Rodney “Fireball” King which was known as “The Monday Night Fling with Rodney King and D’Ultimate Sting.”

With his many years of experience in the music business, Sting became one of the House DJ’s for the Upper Level Club (ULC) which was once identified as one of Trinidad’s most trendy and elite hotspots.  ULC was known for hosting some of T&T’s top Soca Bands such as Xtatik, Atlantik, Roycape All Stars, Traffic, Blue Ventures, Kalyan and Charlies Roots… and that’s just to name a few.  ULC was also proud to boast of having hosted artistes such as Maximus Dan, Mr. Vybe, Ms. Alysha, Nadia Batson, Michelle Sylvester, KMC, Iwer, Denise Belfon and not forgetting some of the Top Local DJ’s in the business such as Chinese Laundry, Signal to Noise, Brian Regis, Teddy Mohammed, Simply Smooth (to name a few).  Aside from ULC, Sting was also one of the DJ’s for T & T’s equivalent of BET 106 and Park T.V. known as Nescafe “Party Time.”  This programme showcased the talents of the nation’s youths during summer vacation; talents such as, singing, lip-syncing, dancing, and playing instruments.  Party Time was the first television programme to spotlight most of T&T’s top Soca Artistes, many of whom are mentioned above.

In 2001 Sting migrated to Canada.  Shortly after his move, he could be heard juggling tunes throughout the country.  By 2002, D’UltimateSting was blazing tracks as the House DJ for “Calypso Hut – 2.”  In 2004, D’Ultimate Sting became a Radio Announcer and DJ for 770AM.  He hosted the family rated programme known as “In Da Mix” which was aired every Saturday afternoon.  During 2007-2008,Sting, alongside his now former business partner, established an Internet Radio Station known as TSWRadio.  They commenced broadcasting their first official internet radio show on Friday evenings and eventually moved it to Saturday mornings.  This show was originally hosted by D’Ultimate Sting and dubbed “De Eye Opener.”  Currently, “De Eye Opener” which is now aired on Excel Mix Radio, the new home of D’Ultimate Sting, continues to be the peoples’ favourite show overall.

When it comes to promoting Caribbean Culture, Sting is very passionate. Unknowingly to most individuals, Sting work alongside many event organizers big and small throughout Canada offering his expertise and resources for the greater good. His zero tolerance to be caught up in the politics of the Entertainment business is an added bonus so much that when he’s called upon he proved to very reliable.

In Toronto during summer, the City comes alive with Caribbean Events: “The build up to Toronto Carnival.” Sting introduced a new concept to the industry called “The Soca Caravan Tour” dubbed after his dj’ing era on a popular radio station in Trinidad, where a group of Soca artistes would Tour various schools to perform around Carnival time. This concept he brought to  Toronto on Excel Mix Radio, every weekend Sting alongside his business partner (GFactory Live) together they are known as “The Soca Chefs” would broadcast LIVE on location at various Mas Camps where they serve up some of the hottest Soca including performances by some of Toronto Veteran calypsonians  and rising Soca stars which received great reviews from the Caribbean Community.

In 2010 Sting used his networking capabilities which formed great partnerships with Florida’s Vibyz Radio 103.9fm (Tony Soul) and Wei (we) Vybz Radio 95.3fm Brooklyn (Spice Ram) and most recent Pepper Seed Radio (Paul) where they Simulcast the feed of EMR on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Sting’s multitude of talents does not limit him to only running tracks.  Apart from being the Director of Excel Mix Radio (www.excelmixradio.ca ) he was also the Marketing Director of Toronto’s first and only Caribbean Party Infoline known as 1-886- Two-1-Mix. He is also Toronto’s Branding Ambassador of Soca Passion Gear and Soca On The Seas Cruise. Sting is a member of:

He has also played for associations such as Canfar Bloor Street Entertains, Canadian, Sirens Fashions Scarborough Towne Centre, St. Kitts Association Canada, Prologix Services, Montreal’s SCFP C.U.P.E UNION (to name a few) and various mas camps such as Tribal Knights, Saldenah Mas Band, Callaloo, Calabash Mas Band (Soca Caravan Tour) and is currently Toronto Revelers Mas Band resident Dj. Sting also played at Carnivals such as Trinidad, Miami, Houston, Toronto Carnival aka Caribana, Brampton’s West Fete, Barrie’s Caribfest and Montreal’s Carifiesta,  all received D’Ultimate experience.
