“People should be able to wear a Christian Boucaud piece 30 years later and still make a statement.”
Holder of the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Service Industries Young Service Provider of the year Award 2013, Christian Boucaud started her label Christian Boucaud Designs officially in 2003. Always having a flair for fashion, she prides herself in lifting the mood and confidence of her clients by providing them with garments that are incomparable to any Caribbean or international designer. With the intricate details and innovative manipulation of textures and the incomprehensible use of African print fabric that emulates the different layers of the Caribbean people. Her work has comfortably become a trademark by no doubt and often appearing effortless and timeless through her Caribbean fashion aesthetic. This she believes is responsible for the international interest in her label. Christian Boucaud dresses both local and international celebrities, dressing Michelle Williams, former member of popular girl group Destiny’s Child, popular Japanese Soca Group Torochacha and recently outfitted the cast of Jidenna’s new single ‘a little bit more’. In 2010 Christian designed and produced an eco friendly collection PHeo from recycled materials including used denim jeans, furniture cushions and used bed sheets. The collection received rave reviews and peaked international interest. PHeo was then requested and sold in two boutiques in Japan, one boutique in The United States of America and three boutiques in Trinidad. Christian has showcased both regionally and internationally and through social media she has been able to reach clients internationally and regionally, with clients in Japan, Belgium, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Africa and numerous Caribbean islands. Additionally, Christian Boucaud Designs was featured in Popular Ghanaian Magazine Fashion Ghana recently and have had interest from numerous African states and over ten online boutiques to carry our clothing. Christian Boucaud is also a noted Carnival Designer who started designing Carnival Monday Wear in 2004 and Carnival Costumes in 2012. She is the only Designer from Trinidad and Tobago who has outfitted more than one international celebrity and plan to expand on the number of international celebrities wearing her label.
